Santa Claus Village at dusk, a short walk from Santa’s Igloos at the Arctic Circle

Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle: Glass Igloos Next to Santa Claus Village

Our research · we didn’t do this one

A glass roof over your bed and Santa Claus Village a few minutes’ walk away.

We didn’t do this one. This is the research we compiled when deciding whether to add it to our itinerary. Every fact is from the sources listed at the bottom. We stayed at Apukka Resort instead. Read our review.

What is Santa’s Igloos Arctic Circle?

A hotel of 71 glass-roofed, air-conditioned igloos at Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, run by Santa’s Hotels.

It’s open all year, so you can stay under the northern lights in winter or the midnight sun in summer.

Can you see the northern lights from Santa’s Igloos?

Yes, through the glass roof, and an aurora alarm tells you when they appear.

Aurora season in Rovaniemi runs from late August to early April. Clear skies matter as much as the lights themselves; see our northern lights guide.

Where does everyone sleep in a Santa’s Igloos igloo?

The pages we checked don’t publish bed setups or how many people each igloo sleeps, so confirm before booking with kids.

Every igloo has a private bathroom with a rain shower, and some have their own sauna. Breakfast is served at Restaurant Arctic Eye.

How close is Santa’s Igloos to Santa Claus Village?

About 600 m, so you can walk.

A shuttle bus also runs between Santa’s Igloos, Santa Claus Village and Rovaniemi city center. The airport is about 2 to 4 km away.

Santa’s Igloos or Apukka Resort?

Santa’s Igloos if you want to walk to Santa Claus Village; Apukka if you want a resort with the activities built in.

Honestly, Santa Claus Village was a miss for us, so being next to it wasn’t a priority. At Apukka our Aurora Family Cabin had a separate bedroom, and the huskies, snowmobiles and a private Santa visit started at the resort. Read our Apukka review.
